Anyone watch "How I Met Your Mother" last night? The show was picking fun at couples who try different techniques to choose the gender of their child. I admit, the show made me giggle, mostly because the techniques were so asinine. So, since us infertiles try almost anything here are their recommendations!
To have a boy a man should do the following
1.) Eat a jar of pickled herring
2.) Drop his ball sack in ice water
3.) Have sex facing due north
To have a girl a woman should do the following
1.) Eat lemons
2.) Heat up her lady parts to 105 degrees
3.) Have sex facing due south

Yea I saw it. It was funny but I kept thinking "God if they get pregnant this season then I can't watch it anymore". I secretly hope they'll do fertility treatments and maybe show the world what it's really like for us infertiles!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch last night's, but I agree with Christa. I keep hoping they do fertility treatments.
ReplyDeleteI love that show! I will be a little annoyed if they get pregnant right away.
ReplyDeleteHaha! That is worth a good laugh!
ReplyDeleteI really wish more shows would have some good real life examples of infertility treatments (not like greys anatomy!!)
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!! Love it!!! :) What are the recommendations just to get PREGNANT when battling infertility, regardless of sex? ;)
ReplyDeleteHAHA! I love it. I wish any of those things actually worked. :)
ReplyDeleteI love that show, but I always forget it's on. I would love if they did an IF story line. I really hope they don't get pregnant right away!
ReplyDeleteI was so disgusted when I saw the blurb about the show. I'm not even a regular watcher, but it really burns me up when stuff as serious as IF gets joked about on TV.
ReplyDeleteI was dying laughing - so funny. REALLY hoping they do treatments on the show...
ReplyDeleteI love the show, and actually got to see it last night (my husband typically wants to watch Monday Night Football, but I apparently got to the remote first). The show is intended as a comedy, so it does make it a little bit easier to laugh at fertility stuff. And I admit that it's easier to laugh, now that we have Ella. But I can see how it could also be painful to watch that episode--even as an intended comedy. Hang in there!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE HIMYM!!!! I thought the episode was hilarious!
ReplyDeleteOMG, we have almost the same exact schedule!!!! No joke! My estimated stims are to start like 11/26, and my IVF nurse is thinking our transfer will be 12/12 or 12/13!!! I think we're meant to be friends through this.
ReplyDeleteHA HA HA HA. I read a book that said if the mother ate iron fortified cereal that she would have a boy! LOL.
ReplyDeleteMy question is how to you face south when getting IVF? Do you ask the embryologists to fertlize the eggs in a southward direction? :)
ReplyDeleteI wish I would have seen this episode!
